Our Mission:
To support the rebuild of resilient communities in a post-Helene Appalachia
Our Vision:
Healthier, safer, and more resilient connected communities
Our Story
Helene Rebuild Collaborative was founded on immediate action and continual effort. Our team gathered post-storm and started working to get supplies out, and the organization grew from there.
We began delivering resources by any means necessary to communities that were underserved, isolated, and cut off from being able to access aid. Due to the terrain and destruction, there were many people who were not receiving critical aid.
Quickly, our team recognized complex problems emerging in housing the thousands of people who experienced damage to their homes. The collaborative has focused efforts on creating housing solutions, delivering RVs to families in need, renovating damaged homes, and rebuilding homes that have been totally destroyed. We are utilizing mapping systems and community partnerships to identify families working to rebuild.
We are a rapidly evolving, grassroots organization equipped to serve our neighbors through partnership and collaboration. Our operations have surged from the initial efforts of friends inspired to provide basic needs to West Asheville residents to a highly coordinated force of volunteers, efficiently identifying and addressing short and long term needs.
Our work is made possible by the French Broad River Academy non-profit organization while we embark on the journey of creating our own. We are seeking sustainable assistance from individuals and organizations to continue providing enduring support to those in need while we navigate the heart-breaking destruction of Hurricane Helene.
